Dear Room 112 Families, Sept 6, 2016
I am looking forward to getting to know all of you. . We are in first week of school together, and I am enjoying getting to know your child very much! Most of all, I’m enjoying watching your children make new friends and build community in our classroom. Please complete all of the district paperwork, as well as, the various parent / student / technology inventories & surveys that went home this week. This gives me a lot of insight into how I can best communicate with you, as parents, and what expectations you have of your child in first grade. We are making adjustments to meet those needs. Classroom Responsibilities Next week, we will begin our classroom jobs. Your child will hold the job for the week. Jobs will be rotated weekly. Specials We will have Gym Tuesday and Thursdays and Art on Monday, Wednesday, Friday. H.E.R.O Folders Thank you for your patience as I put together your child's H.E.R.O folders. The folders will consist of our monthly school calendar, classroom weekly newsletter (Woodbury Weekly), our class schedule, a parent/teacher communication log, your child’s weekly spelling words, sight word practice suggestions, a personal word wall, and a pencil pouch to store work tools. Please look through the folder daily for homework, notes from me, and/or letters from the school. Behavior, Rules and Consequences This week, we will continue to learn, reflect on and practice the rules at school. In order for us to have a positive learning experience we all have to follow the rules in class. If your child is struggling with any of these areas, please work on these rules at home. Appropriate behavior is expected at all times; in the classroom, hallways, lunchroom and everywhere else in the building. In the case that your child breaks a rule, they will be given chances to correct their behavior before consequences are given. In extreme situations (ex. child is harming themselves or others and/or are disrupting learning); they will be sent to the office with a discipline referral. Snack Please bring your own, individually wrapped snack every day. For the purposes of allergies, classroom storage, and cleanliness, I will not be setting up a snack schedule. Great site! I will be sure to check it often. I also want to make sure that I am tuned into Woodbury's Firsties and the other disciplinary online tool you are using as well. We will have a fantastic year! Thanks so much.
