Dear Room 112 Families, November 2, 2015 wk 9
November to me means student-driven goals, student-led conferences, report cards, boots, short days, long nights, holiday, feast, family, friends, and football. What does it mean for you?
THIS WEEK IN: WORD STUDY Students will be doing sorting activities throughout the week in their word study notebooks to prepare for their spelling test on Friday. Please keep their word list / parent letter in their take home folders as it contains their individual sight words I test them on on Fridays. READING We will read Pumpkin Town. Students will dig deeper into the text through each reading. We will discuss the meanings of the vocabulary words and identify the setting, characters and story parts in the text. We will also do small group reading instruction. WRITING This week in writing we will work more on planning personal narratives and working with peers to revise and edit our writing. MATH In math we will do more work with number stories and look at number models that correlate. We will also begin math notebooks, and math groups SCIENCE In science we will use our science notebooks to observe and collect data about clouds and air. SOCIAL STUDIES We will discuss our families as it relates to their history, present, and future. Please send in a picture of your child’s family, if you haven’t already.
